Not as long as it needs to be to truly sit flush. In a heavy rain it will allow water in at the tailgat area because of that. It arrived bent so I had to fix it the best I could. It's a good cover all in all..over priced I think but what I needed and does the job.

I really like the tonneau. It is very high quality, easy to use, and it was packed exceptionally well to ensure safe arrival. I found the instructions and installation video very easy to understand. Highly recommended.Update: I’m two months in, and am still very happy with my purchase.

The cover fits good in my 2020 Ram 1500 regardless that Amazon said it wouldn’t. The installation wasn’t so difficult. If you have a basic mechanical understanding, you can put this together with the manual provided. They also provide a video if you are more of a visual learner. It is water resistant, but not waterproof. A little water will penetrate through the sides and the tailgate area. At the tailgate there was a 1/4 inch gap and I fixed it with a pipe insulator for about $3.50. It rolls in and out quietly with the remote. This cover is a good upgrade to my truck and will keep the bed “dryish”and secure. I would definitely recommend. My own tailgate is not water tight so water will spray in if driving in the rain. It survived the 90 MPH winds from Francine a few days ago.
